How the 2026 Liga de Ascenso works

16 clubs play each other home and away (30 rounds). The leader is crowned champion and goes straight up to the Liga de Primera; teams 2 to 8 play a playoff for the second promotion spot, and the bottom club is relegated to the Segunda División Profesional.

History of Rangers de Talca

  1. 1902

    Founded in Talca as Rangers Foot-Ball Club by students of the Liceo de Hombres. The name pays tribute to Rangers of Glasgow, Scotland.

  2. 1953

    Makes its debut in Chilean professional football.

  3. 1965

    Finishes 3rd in the top flight, and Héctor Scandolli is the league's top scorer with 25 goals.

  4. 1970

    After winning the Torneo Provincial and finishing national runners-up in 1969, plays the Copa Libertadores.

  5. 1988

    First professional title: Segunda División champions and promotion to the top flight.

  6. 1997

    Primera B Apertura champions after beating Everton 4-2 at the Fiscal in torrential rain.

  7. 2002

    In its centenary year, reaches the top-flight Apertura final after knocking out Colo-Colo at the Monumental.

  8. 2011

    Returns to the top flight after beating Everton in the promotion final: 1-1 in Talca and 3-3 in Viña del Mar.

Getting to the stadium

Rangers plays its home games at the Estadio Bicentenario Iván Azócar Bernales, Talca's Estadio Fiscal, at the end of the Alameda Bernardo O'Higgins next to Avenida Circunvalación. It is the largest stadium in the Maule region and was renovated for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
