EFE uses dynamic pricing: the fare depends on the date, time, class (Standard or Preferente) and how early you book. The earlier you buy, the cheaper it is. The exact price appears when you choose your trip at pasajes.efe.cl.
One of the last narrow-gauge branch lines still running in South America: 88 km along the Maule River between Talca and Constitución, stopping at villages with no other transport, such as Corinto, González Bastías or Pichamán. The trip takes about three hours.
In 2026 the track is being rehabilitated (about US$40 million) and new railcars have arrived; EFE warns of longer-than-usual travel times. Check the day's timetable at efe.cl or at the ticket office before travelling.

2If you travel with Tur Bus, remember it leaves from its own terminal on 3½ Sur, not the main terminal.
3Arrive at the terminal 15 minutes early and bring your ID.
4If you're going to Santiago, check which terminal your bus arrives at (Sur or San Borja) to plan your metro connection.
5The train is a good way to avoid traffic on Route 5, especially on Sunday returns.
6To get to Constitución, the buscarril is slower than the bus, but it's a unique ride through the Maule valley.
